Looking back at the first time my agency hit $10k in a month
It was about three years ago, and I was just running ads for a few local shops. I checked our Stripe dashboard one morning and the number was sitting at $10,247. I remember I just sat there staring at it for a minute because it felt like a real business for the first time, not just a side thing. That month we had landed a new client, a brewery in Portland, and their retainer pushed us over. Has anyone else had a moment like that where the numbers finally made it feel real?

Remember hearing this one marketing guy talk about how hitting that first big number is almost like a weird psychological threshold. He said something about how under $10k you still feel like you're faking it, but once you cross over, your brain finally accepts it's legit. I get what he meant. For me it was like the confidence shifted in how I talked to clients too, like I stopped second guessing every little thing. That screenshot advice is solid too, I've got a few saved on my phone from different milestones and they really do help when things get quiet.

Wait, a brewery in Portland? How did you even find that client? That's a huge market to break into.

Oh man, that first big number is a trip. Mine was hitting $8k and I just kept refreshing the page thinking it was a glitch. My advice? Take a screenshot and save it somewhere you'll see it. When you have a rough month later, and you will, looking back at that proof you did it once really helps you push through. It's a solid anchor point.
