Pro tip: I used to write blog posts like a robot until a client sent me a voice memo
For like 5 years I was doing all my client blog content by staring at a blank screen and forcing out these stiff paragraphs. Last March a client sent me a 3 minute voice memo explaining their product and it was gold, so natural and funny. Now I just record myself talking about the topic for 10 minutes and transcribe it with a cheap app. Cut my writing time from 2 hours to 45 minutes per post. Has anyone else tried talking out their content first instead of typing it?

Does the transcription app catch your tone exactly or do you still have to clean up a lot of the filler words and rambling? I tried this with a few posts but ended up spending almost as much time editing out the "like" and "you know" stuff as I would have just writing it from scratch. For really technical topics where I need to explain a process step by step, I wonder if the recording method works or if it gets too messy.

Isn't the whole point to capture how you actually talk even if it needs a little cleanup?

Yeah exactly! It's like people forget that talking and writing are just different modes. I've noticed in group chats too, everyone rambles way more through voice than they would typing it out.
