Serious question, why is every local shop's online presence so similar now?

In my neighborhood, I've noticed that all the small businesses have started using the same social media tactics. Their Instagram feeds are full of bright, airy photos posted at the same time every day. I spoke to a friend who runs a gift shop, and she said a local digital marketing agency advised this approach. But now, every store looks the same online, and it's hard to remember who is who. Does this really help them connect with customers, or just create a sea of sameness? I think agencies should focus on what makes each business special, not copy-paste strategies. It's frustrating to see creativity get lost in the process.

My local coffee shop's Instagram looks exactly like the pet groomer's three blocks over. At this point I'm just liking photos of latte art that might actually be a poodle.

What's the benefit of blending in?
