Showerthought: My journey from guessing to knowing with web analytics
I remember first trying digital marketing for the hardware store I run. We had a basic site and just hoped for the best. Learning to use analytics changed everything. I could see where visitors came from and what they did on our site. It was overwhelming at first, but I got the hang of it. Now, things are more complex with all the new tools. But that early lesson in tracking data still guides my choices today. It's wild to think how much has shifted in just a few years.

Was that shift really all for the better though?

Felt the same way at first and thought it might take the gut feeling out of things. But then I actually saw where my own site traffic was coming from, real numbers not guesses. That clear picture made my decisions so much easier and way less stressful. It turned my worry about losing the human touch into trust in what the facts were showing me. The shift to knowing really did make things better for my peace of mind.

Forget the gut vs data fight. Try using the numbers to explain your weird hunch to other people. It turns a feeling into a story you can actually share and test.

That trust in the facts Wyatt mentioned is interesting. But MaryWilson has me wondering, does leaning so hard on the numbers ever make you miss something good that the data just doesn't show yet, like a weird gut feeling about a new idea that the old metrics can't measure?
