Spent 6 hours trying to fix a Facebook pixel that wasn't even broken

I was tweaking my clients ad account last week and their conversion tracking dropped to zero, so I went down a rabbit hole of reinstalling the pixel, checking events, and even rebuilding the whole thing in Google Tag Manager for 6 hours. Turns out my client had just paused the ad set the night before, so there were no conversions to track. Has anyone else wasted a whole day on a problem that was actually just a simple toggle?

Had a client call me in a panic because their entire website was showing a 404 error. Spent two hours clearing caches, checking DNS records, and running server diagnostics. Turned out they had typed "www.websitename.com/404" into the browser bar to show me what it looked like and forgot to close the tab.

Client was technically right. They found the 404 page. Just not in the way they thought.

Read an article that said 30% of debugging time is spent on problems that don't actually exist. @taylor.reese client story reminded me of that stat hard.
