Spent $800 on Google Ads last month and got zero conversions.

I bet it was my lame landing page copy since I threw it together in 20 minutes, has anyone else wasted money just to learn the same hard lesson about ad campaigns?

Did your friend try throwing like 300 different headlines at the wall to see what stuck? My buddy spent $1,200 on Facebook ads for his dog treat business with a landing page he literally wrote on his phone while waiting for coffee. Zero sales for two weeks until he changed the headline from "Premium Dog Treats" to "Stop Your Dog From Chewing Your Sneakers For Good" and suddenly it worked. Sometimes the smallest tweaks flip everything around.

Did you try changing up your headline like emerym36 said? I wasted about $500 on Google Ads for my little side project selling handmade birdhouses. I spent hours on the page layout and photos, but the headline just said "Handcrafted Birdhouses For Sale." It was pretty bad. After reading some advice online, I switched it to "Bring Bluebirds To Your Backyard This Spring" and my conversion rate went way up. It's amazing how those small changes can make such a big difference. You are not alone in learning this the hard way, I promise.

Wait @linda_dixon49, did you really drop $500 without trying a different headline first?
