Unpopular opinion: getting called out by a client on my reporting made me ditch fancy dashboards
A client at a local ecommerce brand in Austin told me straight up that my pretty looker studio dashboards were useless. She said 'I just need the roi number and what changed since last week.' I switched to a simple google sheets report with 4 rows and our calls went from 30 minutes to 10. Has anyone else had a client force you to simplify like that?

Good for you for listening instead of getting defensive.

...and honestly that's the thing about dashboards. Most clients don't want a data museum. They want the one number that tells them if they should freak out or not. The rest is noise. I've had a similar moment with a client who asked "why is this so complicated" and I realized I was building stuff for me, not them. Four rows in Sheets beats forty charts in Looker every single time. Most people just want the answer, not the journey.
