Vent: I was charging clients way too little for 18 months before I figured it out

I had a client last spring brag to a buddy about how cheap I was compared to their last agency, and it hit me that I was leaving $20k a year on the table. Turns out I was pricing based on my own insecurities instead of the actual value of the work we were delivering. How do you figure out what to charge without feeling like you're ripping people off?

I just charged someone my "I'm scared to ask for more" rate for like, three years.

Whoa, hold up. Tbh, that's not really a rate you "charge", it's more like a price you're too scared to set. You're just letting them underpay you for three years, not charging some special rate. Honestly, the real rate is what you're worth, not what you're scared to ask for. Ngl, I've totally done the same thing though, so I get it. It's like you're negotiating against yourself before they even say a word.

3 years of steady work sounds like a win to me, @anderson.piper.
