Walked into a client meeting in Denver last week and they'd already rewritten our entire SEO strategy
They found a self-serve SEO tool for $29 a month and decided it was a better fit than our $2,500 monthly retainer. Has anyone else dealt with clients thinking cheap software replaces agency expertise?

See it totally different honestly. That $29 tool probably just spits out basic keyword lists and maybe some backlink checks, nothing about actual strategy or understanding their industry. Yeah anyone can run a report, but knowing how to actually fix a site's authority issues or navigate Google's algorithm updates takes real experience you can't get from a dashboard. Clients like that usually come crawling back in 3 months when their rankings tank or they get hit with a manual penalty, but by then you've lost all that momentum. Its frustrating but sometimes you have to let them learn the hard way and just be ready to pick up the pieces when they realize cheap tools don't replace human judgment.

Saw a marketing podcast say most $29 tools just game old Google loopholes, not worth it.
