Coworking memberships vs coffee shop hopping cost me $250 more in July

I spent 6 months bouncing between cafes in Chiang Mai and thought I was saving cash, but my drink tabs and tips added up to $320. Then I tried a monthly desk pass at Punspace for $70 and suddenly had stable WiFi and fewer distractions. Anyone else find that coworking spaces actually save money once you track the little stuff?

My buddy Matt spent two months working from a Starbucks in Bangkok. He'd buy a latte and a pastry every morning, then grab lunch nearby because he felt weird eating his own food there. His "cheap" setup ended up costing him like $40 a week on drinks and snacks he didn't even want. He finally got a coworking pass and the Thai iced coffee at his old Starbucks felt like a huge waste once he added it all up. Plus he could actually hear himself think without the blender going off every five minutes.

Did you factor in the value of free networking opportunities you miss at coffee shops?

@laura_schmidt82's buddy Matt basically paid $320 to hear blenders. Coworking for the win.
