Got kicked out of a coworking space in Bali for my setup

I was working from this trendy coworking spot in Canggu last week and apparently my portable monitor and laptop stand took up too much space. The manager came over and told me I needed to use a regular desk spot or leave. I was literally just sitting there with my usual travel rig, not bothering anyone. It got me thinking about how some places really don't get what digital nomads actually need. Now I look for coworking spaces with bigger desks or ones that advertise for remote workers specifically. Has anyone else run into weird rules at coworking spots that just didn't make sense for how we work?

Wait, have you tried one of those smaller setups? I mean, i had this coworking space in Austin that was super strict about desk clutter, and my portable monitor got me side-eyed a few times. What actually worked for me was getting a sleeve for it and just keeping it in my bag until i needed it, then packing it up right after. That way it didn't look like i was setting up a whole command center or whatever. Also, i started scoping out spaces that explicitly say "multiple monitors welcome" on their site - those tend to be more relaxed and have better power outlets anyway. Idk, might just be my experience but finding a spot that actually fits your gear makes a huge difference.
