I was dead wrong about coworking spaces for the longest time

For 2 years I swore I'd never pay $200 a month to sit in a room full of strangers typing on laptops. I thought it was a total scam for people who couldn't focus at a coffee shop. Then last month I was in Chiang Mai and my Airbnb AC broke for 4 days straight with the heat hitting 95 degrees. I caved and got a day pass at Punspace and ended up meeting three other nomads who shared client referrals that landed me a $1200 project. Has anyone else had a moment where they totally flipped on something they were sure about?

And I was right there with you @ryan_barnes, thinking the whole coworking thing was overpriced nonsense. I used to tell people coffee shops were just as good and way cheaper. Then my regular spot got way too loud and I couldn't hear my own thoughts anymore. Tried a day pass at a place in Lisbon and within an hour someone asked me to proofread their portfolio which turned into a solid referral. So yeah, I had to eat my words on that one.

Day passes are the way to test the waters. Coffee shops get old fast when you actually need to get work done. Found some good connections at a spot in Phoenix once.
