Just blew $800 on a 'nomad hotspot' that barely works outside a cafe

Bought it in Bangkok thinking it would solve everything. Now I'm stuck with a useless brick and still hunting for decent wifi. Anyone found a mobile data setup that actually works across Southeast Asia?

My buddy just got a local SIM in Vietnam and it works way better than those pricey hotspots.

That's the move for sure. My cousin did the same thing in Thailand and saved a ton of cash. Those travel data plans are a total rip-off.

Man it's like everything sold as "travel tech" is just overpriced junk that barely works. Same thing with those portable chargers that claim to last a week but die after one day.
