My take on Portugal: city convenience or countryside calm?

Spent time in Lisbon and a small town. Lisbon had fast internet, the town was peaceful but connection was spotty. Which do you prefer for long stays?

That "spotty connection" in small towns is the real deal breaker for me... tried doing a video call from a village cafe once and it kept cutting out every few minutes. You get the peace, sure, but then you can't reliably stream a show or join a work meeting. Makes the calm feel a bit cut off from the world after a while.

I've faced that same frustration with video calls cutting out in small towns. My solution was to invest in a cellular signal booster for my home office, which really improved my connection. For out and about, I scout cafes that have business-grade internet and test their Wi-Fi during off-peak hours. It requires some upfront work, but once you find those reliable spots, the peace feels a lot more connected.

Ruby's right about doing that prep work, but even with a booster, that "peace" often just means staring at a frozen screen. Had a client meeting drop three times last week because their rural internet couldn't handle the upload. You find a good cafe, but then everyone shows up for lunch and the whole thing chokes. What spots have you found that actually hold up when it gets busy?

Business-grade internet" in a cafe is still shared bandwidth, so it'll choke when the place fills up. You're just hoping nobody else shows up.
