Overheard a guy in a Bali coworking space say his 'office' is a hammock on the beach
I was in Ubud last week grabbing coffee between calls, and this dude next to me is on speakerphone telling his client he works from a hammock overlooking the ocean. He's supposed to be building their SaaS dashboard. I almost laughed out loud. Meanwhile, I'm sweating through my shirt because the wifi keeps dropping and my laptop battery is at 15% with no outlet in sight. The guy looked like he hadn't showered in three days and had sand in his keyboard. It hit me that half the 'digital nomad' vibe on social media is just performative nonsense. Most of us are just scrambling for decent internet and trying not to spill Bintang on our laptops. Has anyone else run into these fake beach office types or is it just me?

Bet the only thing he was building was a tan.

Man, that story is just painfully real. The whole 'beach office' thing is such a carefully staged lie for Instagram, right? I'm curious though, did the guy actually pull off his call or did the client catch onto his whole "hammock productivity" vibe? Because my money is on him lying about even having a real project to work on.
