Pro tip: I just hit 30 countries and realized my phone bill was still under $50
I was looking at my budget from Chiang Mai last week and saw my mobile line has cost me $48.50 for the last six months straight. I've been using a local eSIM app in each place instead of my old global plan, and it just clicked how much I was overpaying before. The real win is having a local number for food delivery and ride apps without the crazy fees. Has anyone else found a better way to handle phone service without getting locked into a contract?

You're missing how much easier it is to just get a local SIM card, lol.

But is it really that big of a deal... my old plan was like $40 a month and I barely noticed it.

Yeah but lewis.finley, it adds up fast. That's almost $500 a year you're just letting go. For that money you could cover a car insurance payment or get a nice weekend trip. It's not about noticing the monthly charge, it's about what that yearly total could actually do for you.
