Spent $80 on a noise canceling headset and now I actually get work done in hostels

I was crashing in a 12 bed dorm in Medellin last month and couldnt hear myself think. People talking, doors slamming, some guy watching TikTok on speaker at 2am. I kept trying to work on my freelance stuff but I was getting nothing done. Finally dropped $80 on some Anker over ear headphones from a local shop. Honestly it was a game changer. I can focus anywhere now cafes, airports, even packed buses. But then I left them on a hostel bed in Bogota and had to buy another pair. So now I constantly check 3 times before I leave a room. Anyone else blow cash on something that makes remote life easier but then almost lost it right away?

Holy crap you almost threw $300 Sonys in the trash because of a charging case issue? That would have been a tragedy. I would have cried for like a week straight if I did that. The bright case tip is genius though, I might have to paint mine neon pink or something so I stop leaving them on random beds.

Tbh $80 is actually pretty cheap for decent noise canceling. I spent $300 on Sony's a few years back and honestly they changed my life but I almost threw them in the trash on my first trip because I thought the battery was dead and it was just the stupid case not charging them right. Ngl I think the real trick is getting a bright colored case so you can spot them easier in a messy room or under a bed. Those Anker ones are solid though I heard good things about their value for the money.

Man that's so true about the bright colored case thing, @knight.felix. It's funny how we spend all this money on the tech itself but overlook the simple stuff that actually helps us use it day to day. I've noticed that pattern everywhere, like how people buy expensive kitchen gadgets but forget to get a good cutting board or a sharp knife.
