That co-living spot in Lisbon was way too organized for me

I spent 3 weeks at a highly recommended co-living space in Lisbon last month, and everyone there was glued to Slack channels and scheduled networking events. It felt more like a corporate office retreat than the freedom I was looking for. Am I the only one who thinks digital nomad life works better when you just wander and figure things out as you go?

Honestly, I had the exact opposite problem last year at a place in Bali where nobody knew who was even staying there half the time, so I ended up hunting down the wifi password from a random guy at a fruit stand. Tbh that kind of chaos makes the over-organized spots sound kind of nice in their own messed up way.

That balance between total chaos and rigid organization is so hard to find, and honestly both extremes end up being kind of exhausting in their own special way.

Is it possible that the real issue isnt the chaos or the order but the expectations we bring into the place before we even get there? If you go into a hostel expecting it to be a quiet, organized library, of course the chaos is gonna hit harder, and if you expect it to be a party house, the rigid stuff feels like a prison. Maybe the trick is picking a spot based on your mood that day instead of trying to force one extreme to work for everything.
