TIL I crossed $100k in savings while sleeping in a van in Arizona
I've been a digital nomad for about 18 months now, working remote as a project coordinator. I was checking my bank account last week while parked at a rest stop near Flagstaff and realized I had saved over $100,000 from my tech job. It surprised me because I wasn't even trying to save that much - I just stopped paying rent and eating out every day. Has anyone else hit a financial milestone on the road that caught them off guard?

@wesley_jones nailed it honestly. I had the exact same thing happen to me last year. I was living out of my Subaru in New Mexico and checked my accounts after six months. I had saved $87k just because I wasn't paying rent and only ate gas station burritos and ramen. My rent in Seattle was $2,400 a month and I was blowing another $800 on takeout. Moving into that car was the biggest financial cheat code of my life. But yeah, I had the safety net of a decent job and no car payment to start with.

Fair point but I see it differently. You still made the CHOICE to do it and stuck with it for six months. That's discipline not privilege. Plenty of people with the same safety net would have just kept burning cash on takeout and complained about rent.
