TIL my mobile data plan has hidden roaming limits
I was in Mexico, thinking my plan covered everything. Then my data slowed to a crawl right before a big upload. Now I'm confused about how to pick a better plan. Does anyone have advice on data plans abroad? I'd love to hear what works for you.

Ugh, check if your plan's 'unlimited' actually throttles after a hidden cap even at home... cruel surprise.

Remember when my home internet got so slow I couldn't load a recipe video. Called them up ready to fight, and they hit me with the "prioritized data" talk. Said my whole neighborhood was basically streaming at once so they had to throttle. Felt like a total scam since my bill still said unlimited.

Totally feel you, and @andrewreed is right about the fine print. Maybe try a local SIM card next time, since those plans are often way clearer about what you actually get.
