Update: I stopped chasing coworking spaces and started working in dive bars
Last year I was all about those pricey coworking spots in Bangkok, paying $300 a month for a desk and overpriced cold brew. Then a local bartender told me straight up, 'You look stressed, why not just sit at my bar during the afternoon shift? It's quiet and I'll refill your water for free.' I laughed it off at first, but after three days of terrible WiFi at a crowded WeWork clone, I actually took him up on it. Now I spend about $15 a day on drinks and tips, get better internet from my hotspot, and have way more conversations with actual locals instead of other nomads. Has anyone else found a weird non-standard spot that just works better for your focus?

Wait, you actually switched from a $300 desk to sipping drinks in a dive bar for real?

Deadpan delivery on that transition. $300 desk to $15 bar tab. Sounds like you downgraded your rent and upgraded your social life. One of those dive bar guys probably has a story about a guy who coded a whole startup on a napkin there.
