Used to plan EVERYTHING in spreadsheets, now I just show up with a backpack
Back when I first started nomading, I had color coded itineraries for every city and booked hostels 3 months ahead. Last month in Chiang Mai I just grabbed a flight that morning and found a room on foot in 20 minutes. Anyone else drop the overplanning and actually enjoy the chaos more?

Huh, even the best plans can't predict the people who make a place worth staying.

Figured out that lesson myself when I bought a house based on the fancy granite countertops and ended up with a neighbor who keeps chickens in his backyard. They get loose every other week and now the whole block has an egg exchange going. Guess the chickens planned the community better than I did.

Yeah, I remember when I moved into my first apartment I spent weeks researching the perfect location and layout, then my neighbor turned out to be this old guy who fixed motorcycles at 3am. The whole street ended up bonding over complaining about him, and now we all grab coffee together every Saturday. Funny how the thing you can't plan for is usually what makes it all work.
