Discovered the hard way that outlet spacers exist

I was trying to shove a GFCI into a shallow box for 20 minutes last night and getting nowhere. Found a random blog from an electrician in Ohio mentioning outlet box spacers for like $2 a pack. Has anyone else found a cheap tool that made a simple job way less annoying?

Read that blog post too. Spacers are a total lifesaver.

Wait, are we talking about the same spacers that make my keyboard feel like I'm typing on a stiff board? I swapped mine out for a set of long pole stems and never looked back. The pre-travel on spacers always felt mushy to me, and I kept accidentally bottoming out on the PCB. Give me a crisp, snappy switch any day over that dampened sponge feeling. Plus, I've seen too many reviews about spacers cracking after a few months of heavy use.

Swapped mine for long pole stems too and never went back. Spacers just feel like typing through a wet blanket honestly. The bottom out on the PCB drove me crazy after a week.
