Everyone swears by sanding between coats but I found skipping it gives better results

I was painting my kitchen cabinets in Austin last month and forgot to sand after the primer coat out of pure laziness. The final finish actually looked smoother than my previous projects where I spent hours with 220 grit between every layer. Has anyone else tried skipping sanding and gotten away with it?

Jumped on that bandwagon with my last project too and honestly the finish came out fine. Think about it, modern paints have so much flow additive you're really just scraping off material that would self-level anyway. Plus skipping that step means way less dust sticking to wet paint later.

Right? Not having to fight dust halfway through is a total game changer.

Totally agree, modern paints are so advanced now that skipping sanding mid project barely makes a difference. Saves so much time and keeps the dust down for the final coat too.
