Glue-only chair survived my stress test

I just finished making a chair using only wood glue, no screws or nails at all, even though everyone said it was a bad idea. I made sure all the joints were super clean and fit tight before gluing, then clamped everything down and let it cure for two full days. After that, I sat on it, stood on it, and even had my buddy try it, with not a single creak or shift. I think people rely too much on metal hardware when good glue can hold just as well. For looks, it's way cleaner without screw heads showing. This little win has me rethinking how I do all my wood projects now.

You stood on that thing?

Absolutely, that brittle plastic step stool. I swear I felt it bend.

Yeah, I felt that same little bend hill.margaret mentioned. It's that cheap hollow plastic, the kind that creaks and groans under a full grocery bag. You get that sinking feeling in your gut, like the whole bottom is about to give out and send you straight to the floor. I trust a stack of old phone books more than one of those things.

Wow, that is seriously impressive and it totally makes sense about the clean look without screws. I always thought you needed at least a few dowels or something for real strength, but your stress test proves that wrong. A really good glue joint is way stronger than most people give it credit for. This has me wanting to try a small side table with just glue now to see how it goes.
