Hit 100 paint samples before I picked one for the living room - waste of money or smart move?
I grabbed 100 free samples from the hardware store over two months, testing every shade of gray. My wife says I overthought it, but I saved $60 on a gallon I would have hated. What's your limit before you commit to a color, a specific number or just gut feeling?

Honestly I'm with you 100%. I spent three weeks staring at those little paint chips on my wall and moved them around every day to see how the light hit them. My wife thought I lost my mind over a grayish blue. But ngl the first color I picked looked like baby barf on a whole wall, so testing more saved me from that disaster. Tbh I'd rather waste time than money on a gallon I gotta repaint.

Haha "baby barf" is exactly the right term for what I ended up with on my first try too. I used to be one of those people who'd just grab a chip off the shelf and say "close enough" but after painting my whole living room a color that looked like sad hospital walls at night I learned my lesson real quick. Now I'm with you I'd rather stare at paint chips for a month than do that again. It's crazy how much light changes everything you think you know about a color.
