I was dead set against those expensive smart thermostats but now I'm a convert. Who else changed their mind on something?

Admit I was the same way. Thought they were a total waste of money until my energy bill hit me like a TRUCK last winter. Now my thermostat learns my schedule better than my own DOG does. I used to come home to a freezing house and now it's always warm when I walk in. Honestly feel kind of dumb for resisting so long, but hey, at least I'm saving money now instead of being stubborn.

Oh gosh, you just described my exact journey! I fought these things for years thinking they were just another gadget to overcomplicate my life. But honestly, my old thermostat had me waking up in a cold sweat literally because I'd forgotten to turn the heat down before bed. Now I just tell my phone to make the house warm and it actually listens, which is more than I can say for my cat. The learning schedule part is wild though - mine started preheating right before I usually get up and I was like "how did you know I'm a creature of habit?" I still mess with it sometimes because old habits die hard, but my wallet is way happier now.

My dad was exactly the same way, refused to even let me touch his thermostat settings for like two years. Then he accidentally left the AC running all day during a heatwave and his next bill was almost 200 bucks. Now he sends me screenshots of his monthly savings like he discovered fire or something. It's funny how once you see the numbers change, it clicks why people actually use this stuff.
