Just realized that YouTube paint stripping video skipped the most important step

I was watching this guy on YouTube strip a dresser down to bare wood in about 15 minutes. He made it look so easy with his chemical stripper and plastic scraper. So last weekend I bought a $25 can of the same brand and tried it on an old nightstand from my garage. Three hours later I had a sticky mess and paint still clinging to the corners. Turns out he never mentioned you have to neutralize the stripper with mineral spirits or water after scraping. I ended up having to sand the whole thing by hand for another 2 hours. Has anyone else run into a DIY video that skipped over the messy cleanup details?

Oh man, that's the worst! I had a similar thing happen trying to fix a squeaky door with a YouTube tutorial. The guy showed how to tighten the hinges and it worked great for about five minutes. Then I found out he left out the part where you need to check if the door frame is actually straight. So I spent my whole Saturday shaving wood off the edge with a hand plane and it still doesn't close right. It's like these videos show you the fun part and pretend the messy cleanup doesn't exist. I bet that dresser guy never showed his viewers how to scrub stripper residue off their hands either, because I had that sticky stuff stuck under my nails for a week.
