My basement floor paint peeled up after 8 months

Painted my basement floor in February with a standard epoxy kit from the hardware store. By October it was peeling up in big sheets where my workbench sits. Pretty sure I didn't etch the concrete enough before applying it. Any tips on stripping this stuff off and doing it right the second time?

Yeah you're right about the prep, that's almost always the issue with epoxy in basements. Rent a diamond grinder from the tool library if you've got one nearby, it'll save your knees compared to scraping that mess off by hand. You want to get down to bare concrete or at least until you don't see any shiny spots.

Iris927 has a point about using the right stuff, but a standard epoxy kit should still hold up if the prep was done right. Make sure to diamond grind that old paint off and etch the concrete properly this time.

That's what you get for going cheap instead of using a real masonry concrete sealer.
