Serious question, my deck stain bubbled up after two days of rain
I stained my pressure treated pine deck in Cincinnati last Tuesday, and the weather report said clear for a week. A surprise storm rolled through Friday and now the finish is all cloudy and peeling in spots. Has anyone fixed this without having to strip the whole thing back to bare wood?

Surprise storm" is the worst for any outdoor project. I had a similar thing happen with a fence stain that got caught in a downpour. The cloudiness might be water trapped under the finish, and in my case, letting it bake in full sun for a few days helped it clear up some. It's worth a shot before you go through the hassle of stripping it all.

My uncle's deck in Florida had that same cloudy look after a rain. He waited a full week in the sun before deciding if it needed more work. Sometimes the finish just needs extra time to fully cure and clear up on its own.

Ugh, doesn't that just figure with the weather? I had the exact same cloudy mess on my shed after a surprise shower. What worked for me was exactly what stellaperry said, just letting the sun hit it for a good while. The peeling spots are a bigger worry though, right? I had to gently sand just those bad spots and do a really careful second coat to blend it in.
