Trusted a neighbor's tip on termite spray, huge mistake
Guy across the street in Phoenix swore his vinegar and orange oil mix killed termites. Three months later I pulled back drywall and saw live bugs crawling behind the baseboard. Has anyone else gotten burned by homemade pest fixes that sounded too easy?

Vinegar and orange oil... that's like trying to put out a house fire with a squirt gun and a nice smell. I did the same thing with a baking soda and salt mix for ants, worked great for about two weeks until they threw a parade through my pantry. Termites don't give a hoot about your homemade aromatherapy, they just want the wood. At least you found out before they ate your whole front porch.

Ever actually pull up a floorboard to check how far they spread after the vinegar thing? @oscarc12 is right, but a pro inspection now beats a whole new foundation later.
