Unpopular opinion: that $60 silicone caulk gun was a complete waste

Bought the fancy dripless caulk gun from the hardware store on Elm Street after reading all the hype online. Spent $60 thinking it would save me time on my kitchen backsplash project. Ended up having to fight with it for 45 minutes because the push rod kept slipping. My $8 basic gun from last year worked way better. Anyone else have a tool that just didn't live up to the price tag?

Backwards rubber gripper explains everything. That's just poor quality control for a sixty dollar tool. Fixing factory mistakes shouldn't be part of the setup.

I've had that exact issue with the same gun from Elm Street hardware. Took it apart and noticed the rubber gripper on the push rod was actually installed backwards from the factory. Had to pull that little rubber piece out, flip it around, and it worked like a charm after that. Still not worth $60 though, for a tool that shipped broken like that. My old $8 gun never gave me those kinds of problems, just needed a little muscle. Honestly, I think the whole "dripless" thing is mostly marketing hype anyway... you just have to learn to release the pressure at the right time.
