Wasted $150 on a cheap pressure washer from a big box store...
I bought this $150 electric pressure washer from Home Depot thinking I was saving money... it barely even got the moss off my driveway. The hose kinked every 5 minutes and the wand leaked from day one. After using it for 3 weekends straight I finally gave up and bought a Simpson model for $400 from a tool rental shop. Has anyone else had better luck with those budget units or am I just unlucky?

Oh man, you nailed it with the gas powered upgrade! I did the exact same thing (thinking I was being smart saving a few bucks) and ended up kicking myself. Those cheap electric units are basically glorified garden hoses with a fancy spray nozzle. You can tell they cut corners on everything from the trigger valve to the hose material. The fact that mine started leaking from day one should've been a red flag, but I convinced myself it was just a fluke or I wasn't using it right. Nope, they're just built to fail so you either give up or buy the real thing. That jump to a gas powered or even a decent belt-driven electric (like the Simpson you got) is totally worth the extra cash. You get what you pay for, and sometimes you gotta pay double to learn that lesson.

Yeah, "barely even got the moss off my driveway" is exactly what happened to me with that same price range. I bought one from Lowe's thinking it'd be fine for light stuff around the house, but the water pressure was so weak it barely knocked dirt off my fence. I spent more time untangling the hose than actually spraying. The wand leak drove me nuts too, it was like a constant drip no matter how tight I cranked it. Saved up and bought a gas powered one from a local shop for about $350 and it's night and day different, no kinks, no leaks, and it actually blasts stuff clean. Those cheap electric units might work for a car wash or a little dirt but for any real grime or moss they just don't have the guts.
