Appreciation post: the old drafter who showed me how to clean my pens in 1998

Last month I dug out my old Rotring set and remembered the guy at my first job in Chicago who taught me to use warm water and a drop of dish soap instead of buying expensive cleaner. Has anyone else found a weird hack from a senior drafter that still works today?

Honestly, using dish soap isn't exactly groundbreaking.

Knock it off @elliott37, dish soap is a solid hack for aphids on small stuff. I just hosed down my prize roses with a few drops and a spray bottle yesterday and it knocked them right off. It ain't some chemical marvel but it works for what it is. Not everything needs to be fancy.
