Can we talk about the actual time spent drawing vs. detailing?

I was cleaning out my old project folders from last year and counted the hours logged on a commercial building set. I mean, I spent maybe 30% of the total time on the actual floor plans and sections, and the other 70% was just on details and schedules. Found that in my own time sheets. Does that ratio sound normal to you guys, or is my process just slow?

Details always eat up way more time than the main drawings. Your ratio sounds pretty normal to me.

My details take so long I could probably draw a whole other building in the time it takes me to finish one window schedule. What software were you using to track your hours?

My last project had 87 unique window details. Took three full days just to draft them all. The time tracking never captures that grind.

Switched to Toggl for my time tracking and it helped me see exactly where those window details were eating my hours.
