Disagree with everyone saying digital plans are better than paper blueprints
Had a plotter jam up on me Wednesday morning while I was trying to print off a set of floor plans for a 3 story office remodel in Tucson. Spent 45 minutes wrestling with the paper feed and cleaning ink off the rollers. Everyone in my shop swears by going paperless with tablets, but I still keep a roll of vellum in my truck for backup. That old school stuff never crashes. Anyone else keep paper copies around even when your whole office is pushing digital?

Well, I have to ask - did the plotter jam mess up your deadline or did the vellum save you?

Yeah but here's the thing nobody's talking about, uma_williams, that plotter jam probably saved you from realizing vellum curls like crazy once you peel it off the backing.

Haven't you ever had vellum sit flat for days then curl up the second you actually try to use it? I've seen it happen too many times with wedding invites where people peel it off the backing and suddenly it's a warped mess. The plotter jam might have been annoying but at least the vellum stayed flat on the sheet. Deadlines are tricky but so is handing over a curled final product that looks unprofessional.
