Learning Revit 2025 the hard way on a Friday afternoon project

I was working on a 30-unit residential layout in downtown Denver last week and my layers somehow got scrambled when I imported a DWG from the architect. Ended up spending 4 hours trying to unf*ck the line weights because everything was printing as solid black. Has anyone else run into weird import glitches with the newest Revit updates?

Try purging all imported DWG layers before linking next time, fixed my similar mess instantly.

Saw @kelly.charlie's advice and yeah, purging those imported DWG layers is a lifesaver. I learned that lesson the same way you did, solid black prints after a messy import from an architect's file. Another thing that helped me was keeping a separate template for imported DWGs with line weights already set to override, so even if the layers get scrambled, they still print right. Took me a whole afternoon to figure that out but saved me tons of grief since. Once you get a workflow for it, Revit 2025 works okay but the import stuff is still buggy.

Wait WAIT. You had a 30-unit residential layout and spent 4 HOURS unfcking line weights? That is absolutely MADDENING. I swear every time Autodesk does an update they "fix" one thing and break three other things in the process. The solid black print thing is a nightmare I know all too well, happened to me on a hotel lobby plan once and I nearly threw my laptop out the window. That separate template idea from rowan_thomas84 sounds GENIUS though, I might actually try that before my next project. These import glitches feel like they've been around since Revit 2018 and they still haven't sorted it out.
