My move to digital drafting has me debating layer complexity for residential blueprints.

Some folks say simple layers save time, but others swear by detailed ones for future edits, so which side are you on?

Omg, my friend tried to keep layers super simple on a house plan last year. When the client wanted major revisions, he spent hours untangling everything because nothing was separated properly. Now he swears by detailed layers, says it's a lifesaver for edits.

Learned that lesson myself with a home renovation plan! Keeping layers separate turned a nightmare into a quick fix. Now I always break things down properly.

Detailed layers, no question. Future you will be grateful when a client needs a last-minute change and you can just turn off the plumbing layer instead of redrawing half the plan. The upfront time pays for itself the first time you have to make a big edit.

Honestly, how many times do you REALLY go back and make those huge edits? Feels like overkill for most houses.
