PSA: A client in Denver asked for a full 3D walkthrough of a deck design before we even broke ground.
That was 2015, and I had to learn SketchUp over a weekend to deliver. Has anyone else had a single request completely shift the tools you keep in your kit?

Totally get that. I keep a basic SketchUp model for every project now, just in case. Saves so many headaches later.

That's the kind of push that makes you learn fast. Having a simple model ready to go now is a lifesaver for managing expectations.

Yeah, that "saves so many headaches later" part is so true. I learned that the hard way when I showed up to a meeting with just napkin sketches once. The client looked at me like I had three heads, lol. Now I force myself to make that basic model first, even if it's ugly. It's like my own dumb tax for not planning ahead.
