Dream hack: I started leaving my car keys in the fridge before bed
For a whole week I kept having that 'late for work' panic, but after I put my keys next to the milk, my brain just accepted I was already home. Anyone else find a weird object that fixes a dream loop?

My version of this was putting a heavy book on my phone charger. For three nights straight I dreamed my alarm didn't go off because I was searching for it in a giant, empty warehouse. The book trick worked, but now I just have a weird dent in my charger. My brain's solutions are never simple.

That dent is just proof your brain's fix worked, even if it's a bit odd.

My buddy kept dreaming his teeth were falling out every single night. He read online to sleep with a mouthguard, but he didn't have one. He ended up putting a clean sock in his mouth before bed. It sounds totally crazy, but it actually worked for him. He said his dreaming brain just needed that weird physical signal that his mouth was full and fine. He only did it for a few nights before the dream stopped.

That line about the dent on the charger really got me. My brain does the same kind of thing where the fix leaves its own little mark. I had this recurring dream for months where I was trying to drive but the brake pedal was made of soft clay and just squished through my foot. It was horrible, that sinking feeling every single night. One night I got so frustrated I taped a really firm sponge to the top of my sneaker before bed. I woke up with the sponge stuck to my foot and my shoe thrown across the room, but I'll be darned if that dream didn't stop that very night. My wife still finds bits of old sponge under the bed sometimes, but it was worth it.
