Dream rule that drives me crazy: why does everyone in my dreams assume stairs in a house go to a basement that doesn't exist?
I keep having dreams where I'm in a normal house and someone tells me to grab something from the basement, but when I go down the stairs it's just a wall or a dark closet. Doesn't anyone else dream that basements are fake locations you can never actually reach?

Started writing them down as soon as I woke up, helped me connect the dots.

Wait, you actually wrote them down right when you woke up? That's wild, I barely even remember my dreams by the time I'm done brushing my teeth. Must take some real focus to grab a notebook before your brain fogs over.
