Hot take: dream elevators aren't actually that weird

My dream last night had me taking an elevator that only went sideways through hallways, but everyone in the dream acted like that was totally normal. Then the doors opened into a pool and I just walked on the water no problem. Why do our brains decide the most random stuff makes perfect sense while we're asleep?

My buddy Dave once told me he had a dream where he took an elevator to the 7th floor, but when the doors opened he was in a grocery store parking lot and his car was made of cheese. He said he just got in and drove off like it was the most normal thing in the world.

Hold up, Dave is DEFINITELY wrong about the 7th floor part. The REAL trick is that dreams like that mean the elevator goes to the 7th floor, but the grocery store parking lot is actually the 8th floor in dream logic. My cousin had a dream where he walked into a 7th floor bathroom and it was just a giant aquarium, so trust me on this.

Dreams are just life's weird way of showing us how nothing makes sense anyway.

The 7th floor thing keeps coming up in weird ways. @kelly638 you might be onto something with that grocery store parking lot stuff honestly. I had a dream where I took an elevator to the 7th floor and it opened into a dentist office where the dentist was just a golden retriever in a lab coat. Everyone in the waiting room was acting completely normal about it too. That whole sideways hallway thing you mentioned is exactly the kind of nonsense that feels totally fine when you're asleep but makes zero sense when you wake up. Brains are just weird like that I guess.
