I finally understood my dream's 'no walking' rule after my husband mumbled about his spreadsheet in his sleep.
He said 'cell B7 is a hard left turn' and I realized my brain treats dream navigation like a bad spreadsheet where moving forward requires clicking a specific, nonsensical cell, not just walking.

Spreadsheet logic invading dreams is the most depressing tech creep I've ever heard. Next he'll be mumbling about pivot tables and you'll dream in broken formulas. We're all just one bad update away from our subconscious needing a reboot. Honestly, maybe we should all just go back to dreaming about falling or showing up to school naked.

My friend's dream last week was just clicking through dropdown menus.

Ever have a dream that's just your brain running a system check? When my work dreams get too much like that, I force myself to do something totally physical right before bed, like a short walk. It doesn't always work, but it helps my brain switch out of problem solving mode. For me, it's about breaking the loop before I even fall asleep. Maybe your friend needs a hard stop from screens an hour before they try to sleep.
