In a recent dream, placing a call required me to recite poetry backwards

The other night, I dreamed I had to call my mom, but my phone insisted I say a poem backwards first. (It felt perfectly reasonable in the dream, you know?) I spent what felt like hours trying to remember 'Roses are red' in reverse. Waking up, I was just baffled by my own brain. Do you ever have dreams where simple tasks get weird rules?

But isn't 'Roses are red' often part of a longer rhyme? Dreams make the simplest things tricky.

My friend dreamed his phone password was the sound of a dial-up modem.

Does your brain ever invent totally pointless dream challenges? I totally get this, and @kelly638 is right about dreams twisting simple stuff. Once, I dreamed I needed to use my front door, but it demanded I sing the alphabet song in a fake opera voice. (It seemed so urgent at the time!) I stood there for what felt like forever, just belting out 'A-B-C' all dramatically. Waking up, I was both confused and amused by my subconscious's weird rules.

My dream logic once made me fold a fitted sheet perfectly to unlock my car. The sheet kept springing back and I was late for a fake meeting.
