My dream self kept losing my car in a parking garage that didn't exist
In my dream last night, I had this rule that I had to park on the 4th floor of a garage near my office, but the floor kept changing numbers every time I looked away. Woke up more tired than when I went to bed. Has anyone else had a dream rule that just made zero sense but felt urgent at the time?

I parked on level 7 of a garage in a dream two weeks ago, and then when I went back to my car it was on level 3 but the stairwell kept taking me back to level 7. Here's the thing though, I actually think those dumb dream rules are our brains trying to be efficient. Like your brain is running this weird background check on your real life parking habits and it just glitches out because you don't even have a constant parking spot. The urgency you felt was just your brain's way of making sure you pay attention to the dream so you remember it, not because the rule actually mattered. It's like when you're half asleep and you convince yourself you have to check if the front door is locked, it's just anxiety wearing a trenchcoat and pretending to be logic. Your brain was probably just processing leftover stress from your day, not trying to make you solve some parking riddle.

Huh, @mason_lopez, I read something similar in a psychology magazine once.

Psychology magazines are great for reinforcing that we're all just walking bags of anxiety with a side of sleep paralysis. Mason's breakdown of dream logic as "anxiety in a trenchcoat" is probably the most accurate description of my brain's nightly programming I've ever heard. My personal theory is that dreams are just our brains running a defrag program on a Tuesday night and occasionally crashing into the blue screen of weirdness. The parking garage level shifting sounds like your brain trying to organize the clutter and accidentally hitting the "shuffle" button on spatial awareness. At least you didn't dream about trying to open a door that keeps getting smaller and smaller, that's just rude.
