Unpopular opinion: my dream about the talking mailbox was actually super logical
I was telling my friend Sarah about this dream where my mailbox could talk, but only if I put exactly 37 cents in the slot. She laughed and said that was the dumbest dream logic she ever heard. But it made total sense to me. In the dream, the mailman explained that the 37 cents was a 'speech stamp' fee, which is why regular stamps cost less. This happened about a month ago, but I still think about it. Does anyone else have dreams where the weird rule gets a full, detailed explanation that somehow checks out?

Love that your brain gave you a full price breakdown.

But wait, if it's a voice mail fee, who gets the money? The mailbox maker? The phone company? My brain says stamp fee because the post office is involved. But they don't do talking mail. So is it a whole new service? Like a premium mailbox subscription.

Your dream logic is actually pretty solid. Paul_taylor21 is right about the price breakdown making sense. The only thing that seems off is calling it a speech stamp fee. Stamps pay for delivery, not for the mailbox to talk. Maybe it should be a voice mail fee instead. That would fit better with paying extra for a service beyond regular mail. Your brain was close but mixed up the terms a little.

I had a dream once where my front door only unlocked if I knocked in a specific beat from a Eurythmics song. My brain spent the whole dream explaining it was a security system based on song frequency copyrights. It actually made perfect sense to me at the time. That's just how dreams work sometimes, they build their own rules and then explain them in a way that seems totally solid. Your mailbox dream sounds about as logical as anything else I've come up with asleep.
