Wasted $200 on a dream journal app that just made things worse
I spent $200 on this fancy dream journal app called DreamSync that promised to spot patterns in my dreams. All it did was spam me with notifications like 'analyzing your subconscious' and then told me my recurring falling dream means I need to check my roof. Has anyone else lost cash on dream tech that just felt like a scam?

That dream journal telling you to "check your roof" is hilarious but also kind of sad. My buddy Tom dropped $150 on a sleep mask that was supposed to track his REM cycles and play calming sounds. After two weeks it kept buzzing him awake at 3am with a message saying "your anxiety levels are elevated, try breathing exercises." He said it felt like his own brain was yelling at him in the middle of the night. He ended up throwing it in a drawer and now uses a free app on his phone that's basically a notepad. Take this with a grain of salt, but I feel like these gadgets are mostly just cashing in on people who want to believe their weird dreams mean something deep.

Right? It's like paying extra for someone to yell at you while you're half asleep.

Haha yeah that's exactly it. At some point you're just paying for a digital bully that lives in your bedroom and judges your breathing patterns. I knew a guy whose fancy ring kept telling him his "sleep quality was poor" because he had a beer or two before bed. Like congrats, you spent 300 bucks to get shamed by a piece of metal on your finger. The app thing is honestly the way to go. I use Google Keep for my dreams and it costs me zero dollars and zero passive aggressive notifications at 3am. These companies are really just selling anxiety wrapped in silicone.
