Hot take: my washing machine died and I actually sat still for ten minutes

Wednesday night... machine just stopped mid cycle with a thud. Water everywhere. Instead of panicking and calling someone or trying to fix it myself with a butter knife, I just sat on the kitchen floor for ten minutes staring at it. Realized I haven't done that in maybe five years. Just... sat. No phone, no TV, no nothing. That feeling reminded me of when I used to sketch for hours back in high school. That was my dream, drawing stuff... gave it up to fix appliances and pay bills. Has anyone else had a random moment like that, where something breaking made you stop and remember a different version of yourself?

Did you miss the whole point of his story?

Did you check the drain pump filter before it died?

Maybe it's just me but that filter is the first thing to check on any washer. I've had two machines saved by cleaning that stupid little trap. Always skip that step and you're asking for trouble.
