I finally gave up my dream of being a painter when I was 22

Used to spend every weekend at the easel in my tiny apartment in Seattle. Oil paints everywhere. Had a chance to show at a small gallery but froze up. Sold my brushes to a student last year. Now I just sketch on napkins during lunch breaks. Anyone else have a creative dream they quietly walked away from?

Quit calling it "quietly walked away" like it wasn't terrifying.

And you're right to call that out. The way they frame it like some peaceful stroll is insane. That whole two hour window where nobody knew if she was alive or dead wasn't quiet for any of us watching it unfold. I remember refreshing the feed and seeing that word "quietly" and thinking these people have lost their minds. It was a frantic, terrifying situation that looked like it could go really bad. Calling it anything else is just rewriting what we all saw with our own eyes.
