I uncovered my high school dream to be a chef yesterday

I was sorting through old boxes and found my cookbook from when I was 16. I gave up cooking to study engineering, and now some people tell me I dodged a hard life, while others say I lost my passion. What's your take, should I have stuck with it or was my choice right?

Found my old sketchbook once, parallel lives thing.

Actually the phrase is usually "from when I was younger," not "once." Makes it sound like a different version of you, you know? I found some of my old report cards and it felt like reading about a totally different kid. That weird time capsule feeling is real.

@sullivan.lisa, 'once' packs more punch. It focuses on a specific past event. That time capsule feeling is about continuity, not a separate you.

Okay but @kimr74, it's just a word choice. People get way too deep about grammar online. It's not that big of a deal either way.
